In April 1981 I made the trip north to Aberdeen to photograph the semaphores before they were removed. Starting at Ferryhill I was invited into the box and later asked if I would like to visit the South box which controlled the station throat. Seen from this box, 40012 leaves with the 17.12 service to Stonehaven.
